Britain's Laura Trott wins a silver medal at the Track Cycling World Championships in Minsk, finishing narrowly behind Sarah Hammer of the USA in the omnium competition.

Britain's Laura Trott had to settle for silver in defence of her women's omnium title at the Track Cycling World Championships in Minsk.

The 20-year-old Olympic champion lost out to the USA's Sarah Hammer, who had been the runner-up at London 2012.

Hammer finished the six-event competition with 20 points - four better than Trott, who finished on 24.

Australia's Annette Edmondson took bronze on 26.
