Team Sky's Peter Kennaugh wins stage one of Criterium du Dauphine with a late break, while teammate Chris Froome finishes 16th.

Team Sky's Peter Kennaugh has won the opening stage of Criterium du Dauphine from Ugine to Albertville.

The British road race champion attacked inside the final two kilometres to claim the 131.5km stage at the week-long race, which is considered a warm-up for the Tour de France.

The 25-year-old crossed the line two seconds clear of Lampre's Sacha Modolo, while Norway's Edvald Boasson Hagen completed the top three.

Kennaugh's Team Sky teammate, Chris Froome, finished in 16th.
