Result: Astana win team time trial at Vuelta a Espana

Janez Brajkovic tops the general classification at the Vuelta a Espana after Astana ride to victory in the opening stage from Vilanova de Arousa to Sanxenxo.

Astana have stormed to victory in the opening stage of the Vuelta a Espana - a 27.4km team time trial from Vilanova de Arousa to Sanxenxo.

Slovenian rider Janez Brajkovic now tops the general classification, while the RadioShack Leopard came in second and Omega Pharma-Quick Step in third.

The second stage, from Pontevedra to the Alto do Monte da Groba, takes place tomorrow and includes a summit finish.

The third of this year's Grand Tours will conclude in Madrid on September 15.
