Sri Lanka secure victory over Bangladesh in the last league match of the Asia Cup by three wickets.

Sri Lanka have secured victory in the last Asia Cup league match before the final by beating Bangladesh by three wickets.

Sri Lanka were given a target of 205 runs following Bangladesh's innings, in which Anamul Haque scored the most runs with 49.

Bangladesh made a strong start on the field when Al-Amin Hossain dismissed opening batsman Kusal Perera for a duck after facing just two deliveries.

Kumar Sangakkara (2) and Mahela Jayawardene, who was run out for a duck, shortly followed, but Lahiru Thirimanne steadied proceedings by reaching 33 runs from 60 balls before he was taken out with Sri Lanka on 75.

Angelo Mathews and Chaturanga de Silva gave Sri Lanka hope of reaching their target with a strong partnership, until De Silva was dismissed for 44, while Mathews reached a half-century.

He went on to finish the innings unbeaten on 74 as Sri Lanka grabbed victory with six balls remaining.
