Kings XI Punjab pick up first win

George Bailey top scores for Kings XI Punjab to lead his side to an 18-run victory over the Mumbai Indians.

Captain George Bailey stole the show as Kings XI Punjab recorded their first win of this season's Indian Premier League by beating Mumbai Indians by 18 runs at Wankhede Stadium.

Batting first, Kings XI made a solid start to their innings, with both Virender Sehwag and Murali Vijay looking in good touch in the early stages of the match.

The introduction of Harbhajan Singh made the difference as the Mumbai spinner dismissed both openers before Jagadeesha Suchith took the crucial wicket of Glenn Maxwell.

However, it was Maxwell's fellow Australian Bailey who made the key contribution of 61 not out from 32 balls to lead his side to 177-5 from their 20 overs.

Mumbai slipped to 25-4 in reply as the impressive Punjab attack, led by Mitchell Johnson (4-23), immediately piled the pressure on to back up what looked to be a par total.

Singh offered late resistance with a superb 64 from 24 deliveries, but Mumbai could only battle to 159-7 as they suffered a second successive defeat.
