England recover from a poor start to win their first warm-up fixture in India by 56 runs.

England have begun their tour of India with a 56-run victory from their first warm-up fixture against a Hyderabad XI.

Captain Alastair Cook won the toss at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and elected to bat first.

The skipper's decision looked to have backfired when he, along with Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen and Ian Bell all fell cheaply early in the visitors' innings.

However, a knock of 73 from Ravi Bopara and 46 not out from Chris Woakes took England to a total of 219 from 47.2 overs.

Steven Finn was the pick of the England bowlers, claiming for 4-28 as Hyderabad struggled in their reply.

The home side were eventually all out for 163 off 36.5 overs.
