Britain's Luke McCormack suffers disappointing Sofiane Oumiha defeat in Baku

Luke McCormack loses his last-16 bout against Sofiane Oumiha to join Great Britain teammate Muhammad Ali in crashing out of the 2015 European Games.

Great Britain have endured further disappointment in the men's boxing event at the European Games after Luke McCormack joined teammate Muhammad Ali in crashing out at the last-16 stage.

Shortly after Ali's loss at the hands of experienced Italian boxer Vincenzo Picardi, McCormack went the same way by suffering a resounding defeat to Sofiane Oumiha.

In the build-up to the bout, the 20-year-old was confident that he could overcome his French lightweight opponent, but it was not to be as he was outscored 10-9 in each round at Crystal Hall to exit the competition.

Oumiha will now tackle Hungary's Miklos Varga for a place in the semi-finals in Azerbaijan's capital.

Team GB still have one more hopeful in the men's category, with Joe Joyce facing the Republic of Moldova's Alexei Zavatin later today.
