Adonis Stevenson eases to points win over Sakio Bika

WBC light-heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson eases to a points victory over Sakio Bika in Quebec City.

Adonis Stevenson successfully defended his WBC light-heavyweight title with a points victory over Sakio Bika in Quebec City.

The opening rounds were dominated by Stevenson, who was looking to connect with his powerful left hand, and he hurt Bika in the fourth but a knockdown was not ruled due to a tangle of legs.

Stevenson had Bika on the canvas in the sixth, before inflicting an even bigger shot on the challenger in the ninth, but Bika soldiered on as he attempted to maintain his record of never being stopped.

The final three rounds were dominated by the home fighter, who tried to goad Bika into another mistake, but the former super-middleweight world champion comfortably made the bell.

There was an argument for Stevenson winning every round, but the judges scored the fight 115-111, 116-110 and 115-110 to allow the Canadian to move in line for a future unification showdown with Sergey Kovalev.
