World champion Kirani James has qualified for the semi-finals in the 400m with a comfortable victory in his heat.

The Grenadian breezed past his competitors, giving him the opportunity to save energy in the second half of the race and to record a modest time of 45.23s.

Ramon Miller of the Bahamas followed James past the finish line with Liemarvin Bonevacia trailing in third to complete the qualifiers from the race.
