The Chicago Bears have defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-18 in the fifth NFL regular season game to be played at Wembley Stadium.

The Bears went ahead in the first quarter when Matt Forte touched down after he managed to weave through the Tampa Bay defence. The kick was successfully made.

The Bucs got on the scoreboard with three minutes to play in the first period when Forte was taken down by Ronde Barber in his own end zone to concede a safety and make the score 7-2.

Tampa's lead was increased in the second quarter after Mike Williams beat two men to edge into the corner for the touchdown. Again, the extras were successfully kicked to make the score 14-2.

The Bears closed the gap at the end of the second through a field goal to make the half-time score 14-5, but a Bucs touchdown early in the third stretched the lead again. This time Barber found a gap in the Bears defence to sneak home, before the kick was made.

Chicago scored their first touchdown of the evening half-way through the final quarter when Kellen Winslow collected a short pass in the end zone to make it 21-11. The Bears went for the two extra points but they were unable to complete the pass.

Dezmon Briscoe touched down after he had found space to make it a three-point game with seven minutes to play, but a field goal extended the Bucs lead to 24-18 with two minutes to go.

Despite a nervy finish to the game for Chicago, they were unable to hold on and claim the win.
