NFL salary cap placed at $133m for 2014 season

The NFL and the NFLPA confirm that the salary cap will be placed at $133m for the 2014 season.

The NFL and the NFLPA have announced that the salary cap for the 2014 season will be placed at $133m (£79m) per team.

The figure has risen over $10m (£5.9m) from the 2013 season, which will benefit sides across the league who were close to the cap in the last campaign with free agency just two weeks away.

The cap is projected to rise even further in the 2015 season due to the terms of a new television agreement over the next five years.

The 2014 league year officially begins on March 11.
