Canoeist Liam Heath wins Team GB's 25th Olympic gold in Rio with victory in the men's kayak K1 200m sprint final.

Canoeist Liam Heath has won Team GB's 25th Olympic gold medal in Rio de Janeiro with victory in the men's K1 kayak single 200m sprint final.

Heath, who won silver with Jon Schofield in the men's K2 200m kayak double on Thursday, qualified fastest for the showpiece.

The Brit began slowly, with Maxime Beaumont of France slightly ahead, but Heath found his stride with a powerful dash to take top spot on the podium in 35.917 seconds.

Heath now has three Olympic medals to his name, including the bronze that he won in the K2 200m in London four years ago.

Beaumont took silver and Spain's Saul Craviotto nabbed bronze.
