Chinu Chinu aims to inspire next generation

Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Chinu Chinu hopes that his exploits in Glasgow help inspire the next generation of English wrestlers.

England's Chinu Chinu is hopeful that his bronze-medal win in the Commonwealth Games can inspire others to pursue a career in wrestling.

The Wolverhampton-born wrestler beat Kenya's Hollis Ochieng Mkanga in the 125kg repechage to seal England's third wrestling medal of the day.

"I can't explain how it feels – it's just emotional. I've been through so much just so that I can make my friends, my family and my country proud," he told reporters.

"We train with big guys like those every day, so I've got the technique to take them on.

"I've been watching on TV for the last two days and I've cried every time I've watched – I want to inspire more people to get into wrestling and make our country proud."

Yana Rattigan took a silver medal in the -48kg category, while Mike Grundy won bronze in the -74kg class to cap a strong day for Team England on the mat.
