The women's downhill skiing competition saw the gold medal shared. Tina Maze and Dominique Gisin posted identical times of 1:41.57.

It was the first time in Winter Olympic History that a gold medal has been shared.

American Kaitlyn Farrington beat defending champion Torah Bright to win gold in the Winter Olympic ladies' half-pipe snowboarding competition.

The Netherlands continued to dominate the speed skating with Stefan Groothuis winning gold in the 1,000m.

Germany also won another gold in the luge with the pair of Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt winning the men's doubles.

In the curling, Team GB's women narrowly lost their match to Canada 9-6. This was their second loss in three games so far in the competition.
