Felix Loch gives Germany first Sochi gold with luge win

Luger Felix Loch secures Germany's first gold medal at the Sochi Winter Olympics, adding to his previous title won at the Vancouver Games.

Luger Felix Loch has secured Germany's first gold medal at the Sochi Winter Olympics this afternoon, adding to his previous title won at the Vancouver Games.

The 24-year-old, whose father competed at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics, secured three first-placed finishes in his four runs to become just the third man to win two consecutive Olympic titles in luge.

Albert Demtschenko of Russia took silver, adding to his second-placed finish at the 2006 Turin Games.

Italy's Armin Zoeggeler won bronze, which means that the 40-year-old has secured a podium finish in each of the last six Winter Olympics.
