Carla Suarez Navarro suffers early Wimbledon exit to Jelena Ostapenko

Ninth seed Carla Suarez Navarro is knocked out of Wimbledon in the first round in straight sets by Jelena Ostapenko.

Ninth seed Carla Suarez Navarro has come to the end of her Wimbledon campaign after just the first round following a 6-2 6-0 defeat to Jelena Ostapenko.

The Spaniard lost serve instantly in the first set and despite responding with a break point of her own, she dropped serve once again to leave herself 2-1 down.

Ostapenko was able to save two break points and eventually snatched Suarez Navarro's serve again to seal a one-set lead at the All England Club.

The Spaniard needed to launch a fightback to give herself a chance of progressing into the second round, but Ostapenko took full control by breaking serve three times as she raced through to victory.
