Cibulkova had a poor start to the first set as she lost her opening serve, and Safarova immediately held to give herself the edge on the grass court.

Safarova was frustrated by her opponent as she relinquished five set points, but she eventually served for the set to take the lead.

Cibulkova suffered a double break in the second set, and despite the 25-year-old gaining a break of her own, Safarova was able to stay composed and see out the set to clinch a place in the fourth round.
