Maria Sharapova draws British wildcard Samantha Murray in Wimbledon opener

Maria Sharapova will take on British wildcard Samantha Murray in the first round of Wimbledon on Tuesday.

French Open champion and former Wimbledon winner Maria Sharapova has been drawn against British wildcard Samantha Murray in the first round of Wimbledon.

The Russian will take on her 26-year-old opponent on Tuesday and is in the same quarter of the draw as top seed Serena Williams, who takes on fellow American Anna Tatishvili.

Eastbourne semi-finalist and British number one Heather Watson will take on Ajla Tomljanovic of Croatia in her first-round clash.

Second seed Li Na faces Poland's Paula Kania for a place in the second round, while Agnieszka Radwanska, ranked fourth, has drawn Romanian player Andreea Mitu.
