Jo-Wilfried Tsonga is forced to retire from his second-round match at Wimbledon through injury.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has been forced to retire from his second-round match at Wimbledon against Ernests Gulbis through injury.

The Frenchman slipped during the encounter against the Latvian and, despite playing on, was unable to finish.

The sixth seed was trailing 6-3 3-6 3-6 when he informed the umpire that he had to stop.

Gulbis, who has never previously reached the third round of the tournament, will now face Spain's Fernando Verdasco.
