Live Commentary: Wimbledon men's final: Andy Murray 6-4 5-7 3-6 4-6 Roger Federer - as it happened

Sports Mole brings you live commentary from the 2012 men's Wimbledon final between Andy Murray and Roger Federer.

Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live commentary of the 2012 Wimbledon men's singles final between Andy Murray and Roger Federer.

Murray could become the first British man to win a Grand Slam since Fred Perry triumphed at Wimbledon and the US Open in 1936 if he secures the win today.

Meanwhile, victory for Federer would take him level with Pete Sampras and William Renshaw's record of seven Wimbledon titles - and he would also move back to number one in the world.

Murray has become the first British man since Bunny Austin in 1938 to make it through to a Wimbledon final – and he could make history at the All-England Club today.

Please note that play begins at 2pm.

18.36Thanks for joining Sports Mole for all of the action! See you soon!

18.34However, today belonged to Mr Federer! That's it for another year of Wimbledon. Although, we will be back in London for the start of the Olympics at the end of the month.

18.32That's just about us for this evening. Serena Williams secured the women's title on Saturday.

18.30However, today was just all about Federer. The way he recovered was just sensational. And at the age of 30 - it is 17 Grand Slams and counting.

18.28We have seen another brilliant year of tennis - and Murray is getting closer to his first Grand Slam.

18.24Charming stuff from Murray. He will have moved higher in a lot of people's estimations today.

18.20Both players make their way to collect their trophies. It really has been a wonderful final - and tournament.

18.16GAME, SET, MATCH, CHAMPIONSHIP! Federer 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 Murray.

18.18FEDERER WINS HIS SEVENTH WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIP.

18.14It's wonderful from Federer as he sets up two match points. Murray saves the first, but not the second! It's all over!

18.12Meanwhile, a lob shot lands just long of the baseline and we sit level at 15-15. Federer is just three points away... make that two as Murray fires a return of serve long.

18.10Perfect start for Murray as Federer fires wide of the mark. 0-15 Murray.

18.10An ace from Murray as he moves advantage ahead. He just has to hold.

18.08Fine display of character from Murray as he staves off pressure from the Swiss to take a 40-15 lead. However, Federer levels it at 40-40.

18.06Just wide from Murray as he places his forehand just past the line. Meanwhile, it's a delicious drop shot from Federer as he takes a 3-5 lead in the fourth.

18.04Wow! Poor from Federer as he fires straight out of play when it looked easier to find the court. 30-30 on the Federer serve.

18.02Hold! Murray does indeed secure the hold to move 4-3 behind Federer in the fourth. However, the Swiss is just two games away from the title.

18.00Composed play from Murray as he reaches a smash - just placing it past Federer. The Scot leads 40-30.

17.58Murray just has to hold his serve here - and he leads 30-15 after a fine forehand.

17.56However, Federer just closes the door to take a 40-30 lead. He has begun to find winner after winner. And he takes it to secure a 4-2 lead in the fourth set.

17.52How does Murray come back from this? A break would be a start. However, Federer has just been so impressive on serve. We sit at 15-15.

17.50BREAK! It's all gone horribly wrong for Murray as Federer breaks with a wonderful passing shot to move 3-2 ahead in the fourth. It was just wonderful.

17.46Here we go then. Federer to serve. The crowd just need to lift Murray here.

17.44Murray does indeed hold as Federer can only fire a weak shot wide. The Scot leads 1-2 in the fourth set.

17.40Federer holds! Big game for the Swiss as he levels it at 1-1 in the fourth set. Who will blink first here? Murray simply has to take this one.

17.38Murray sets up a break point up with a brilliant approach shot at the net. However, he can only fire wide and we sit at deuce on the Federer serve.

17.36Fantastic character from Murray as he produces a thumping forehand to move 15-30 ahead on the Federer serve. Can he break?

17.34However, he does hold his serve to take a 0-1 lead in the opening game of the fourth.

17.30Where does Murray go from here? He simply has to win this set - or his Wimbledon dream is over for another year.

17.28Roger Federer is just such a great champion. The way he has turned this one around has just been fantastic.

17.26It's a smart recovery from Murray - but he fires long to hand Federer set point... SET! Federer 6-3 Murray Just brilliant from the Swiss as he turns this one around to lead two-sets-to-one.

17.22Murray simply must hold here. Or is he going two-sets-to-one behind in this final. He makes the perfect start by moving 15-0 ahead. Meanwhile, it is quickly 30-0 as he fires a forehand past Federer. The Swiss recovers to move 30-40 behind - but Murray moves 5-3 behind in the third set.

17.20Federer recovers from 15-30 down to level it at 30-30. All the momentum is with the six-time winner at the moment as he takes a 5-2 lead in the third set.

17.18Break! Finally the Swiss takes advantage to take a 4-2 lead in the third set. Can he close this one out?

17.16Deuce number nine!

17.14... but he just cannot take it. This game could go on all night!

17.14Just stunning from Federer as he produces a half-volley after a brilliant cross-court forehand from Murray. Meanwhile, the Scot fires wide to hand Federer another break point...

17.12Make that deuce number six as both players exchange points.

17.12Fifth deuce of the game as Federer just fails to attack the Murray second serve. This is such a big game.

17.10However, another powerful serve saves it for Murray. All-action here!

17.10Not for long it isn't. Genius from Federer as he whips a forehand past Murray.

17.08... however, Murray saves it with a brilliant approach shot at the net. It's a deuce game once more.

17.08Just wonderful from Federer as he releases a lob - before firing a forehand down the line. Break point Federer...

17.06It's poor from Murray as he fires high and wide and we sit at deuce once more. What a big game this is in the course of the match.

17.04Ouch. He fell straight on that left ankle. That did not look great.

17.04Three straight points for Federer as he levels it at deuce. Meanwhile, Murray takes a tumble and it does not look good!

17.02Just a sighter for Federer as Murray hits the net. 40-30 to the Scot.

17.02Murray hits his ninth ace of the match to lead 40-0 - but a sensational backhand from Federer gets the Swiss back in at 15-40.

17.00Fantastic start to the service game from Murray as he fires a backhand passing shot. Meanwhile, he takes a 30-0 lead as Federer fires wide.

16.58Brilliant serving from Federer as he quickly moves 40-0 ahead with three wonderful serves. Meanwhile, Murray fires wide to hand the Swiss a 2-3 lead in the third set.

16.56Murray does indeed hold to level it at 2-2 in the third set. Federer to serve.

16.56Make that 40-15 as Federer slices straight into the net. BBC have just shown pictures of the poor soles out in the rain!

16.54The rain can still be heard thumping on the top of the roof. Quite incredible! Meanwhile, Murray has taken a 30-15 lead on serve.

16.52Federer holds as expected to take a 1-2 lead in the third set. Meanwhile, new balls have been called.

16.51Federer to serve at 40-0.

16.50Play resumes: Murray 6-4 5-7 1-1 Federer

16.50The rain is thumping off the top of Centre! What a different atmopshere from the start of play at 2pm.

16.48The pair are just having a quick warm-up as they get used to the change of atmosphere inside the stadium. We should resume shortly.

16.46Update: Both players are making their way back onto the court.

16.44Both players will have had in-depth conversations with their coaches. But ultimately, it is down to the players.

16.42You would expect Federer to hold serve at 40-0 when play resumes. Then it is so important that Murray levels it straight back at 2-2.

16.40Spare a thought for those currently on Murray Mount! The umbrellas are up - but the weather is winning at the moment.

16.38Former England striker Gary Lineker has tweeted: "Come on Andy Murray, not even Fred Perry won Wimbledon with the roof on."

16.36Meanwhile, let's bring you some Twitter reaction from the sporting world. England striker Michael Owen has tweeted: "Loving this. Great game. Fancy Murray provided he doesn't go behind as that's where Fed could have the advantage."

16.34Looking on the bright side following the rain. The roof will create some atmosphere on Centre Court.

16.32You just get the feeling that whoever takes the third set will go on to win the match. It has just been so tight thus far.

16.30Former world number one Boris Becker also thinks that the match could be turning: "Roger Federer is a six-time Wimbledon champion and we shouldn't forget that. He's a magician out on the Centre Court and those last two points show what the man is capable of. No criticism of Murray, he did the best he could," he told the BBC.

16.28Update: Play should resume at about 5pm.

16.26Here's a word from former British number one Tim Henman on the BBC: "They're both great indoor players but it's Federer who is the one who looks to dictate the points and be more aggressive and I think Federer would prefer there to be no elements. Murray's first serve percentage has been going up, he needs to keep dictating on Federer's second serve and the more backhands he can get Federer to hit the better."

16.24So what have we made of the match thus far then? There are just signs that Federer is beginning to find his top form.

16.22It takes around 30 minutes for the roof to close over Centre - and for it to be prepared. We will keep you in touch.

16.20Meanwhile, here's a look at the stats from the second set: Aces - Federer 3-3 Murray; First serves in - Federer 71%-72% Murray; Points won on first serve - Federer 77%-77% Murray; Points won on second serve - Federer 50%-50% Murray; Unforced errors - Federer 8-4 Murray; Winners - Federer 19-14 Murray.

16.18It is understood that the decision has been made to close the roof. I don't think either player will be too happy with that decision.

16.16Murray 6-4 5-7 1-1 Federer

16.14It's not yet clear whether the roof will be going over Centre. We will keep you updated.

16.14PLAY SUSPENDED DUE TO RAIN.

16.12However, Federer continues to look so strong on his serve as he takes a 40-0 lead.

16.10Murray does secure the all-important hold to level it at 1-1 in the third set. Meanwhile, it does appear certain that rain is on the way.

16.08For Murray, the rain just cannot come quick enough. Federer is in control of this one now - that is for certain. And he leads 15-30 on the Murray serve.

16.06Federer moves 0-1 ahead in the third set with a quick hold. Meanwhile, rain could reportedly be on the way.

16.04Here we go then. Federer to serve first in the third. What a sensational final we have in prospect.

16.02...SET! Murray 5-7 Federer Just wonderful from Federer as he places a spinning drop shot just over the net to level the match at one-set-all. Wow.

16.02Long from Murray! What a wonderful exchange. Set point Federer...

16.00And then it's long from the Scot! Pressure here. 30-30.

15.58Perfect start from Murray as he moves 30-0 ahead. However, a forehand from Federer hands the Swiss a way back in at 15-30.

15.56However, Murray can only hit the net as Federer takes a 5-6 lead in the second set. Is this one heading for a tie-break?

15.56Extremely lucky from Murray as his shot hits the net before dropping just over. It's yet another deuce game between the two.

15.54Federer fires a lob just wide as Murray levels it at 15-15. He is just three points away from the second set.

15.52Murray continues to find such great depth with his forehand - while Federer continues to struggle to dominate. It's a quick love hold from Murray as he levels it at 5-5 in the second set.

15.50Federer holds! What a game in this Wimbledon final as the Swiss takes a 4-5 lead in the second set.

15.48However, it's just so sloppy from the Swiss as he fires horribly wide once more.

15.48It's as good as it gets from Federer as he whips a forehand past Murray. He has a game point of his own.

15.46... but again Federer saves it with an overhead smash. The Swiss is keeping his cool here.

15.46However, Murray has another as he comes to the net to fire a volley home...

15.44... however, he fires long! What a chance missed from the Scot!

15.44It's wide from Federer! Murray has break point...

15.44It's a wild, wild shot from Federer as he fires his forehand wide. 30-30.

15.44Murray moves level with a backhand. However, the Scot hits the net to hand Federer a 30-15 lead.

15.42However, it's the perfect start from Federer as he whips a forehand onto the baseline.

15.42There's the hold for Murray as he levels it at 4-4 in the second set. This is the point in the first set that Murray took over.

15.40Yet another unforced error from Federer as he finds the net from close range. He is not entirely happy out there. Some signs of fatigue maybe?

15.38Fantastic hold of serve for Federer as he takes a 3-4 lead in the second set. Both players have just found their rhythem on serve now. But something has to give somewhere.

15.36Meanwhile, the new balls in play will certainly favour the Federer serve. He leads 30-0.

15.36Two more Murray serves find their mark as he levels it at 3-3 in the second set. So important that Federer holds here.

15.34It's another unforced error from Federer at the start of the sixth game - before a powerful Murray serve moves him 30-0 ahead.

15.32Wonderful defence from Murray as he saves two smashes from Federer. However, the third finds its mark - before the Swiss comes to the net to take a 2-3 lead in the second set.

15.31... but he fires it wide! We have another deuce game here.

15.30... Federer saves the first with an overhead smash. However, the Scot has another...

15.29Brilliant from Murray! It's another move to the net which gains him the point - he has two break points...

15.27Wonderful exchange between the pair as Murray continues to move to the net to claim free points. Meanwhile, he places a forehand past Federer to lead 15-30.

15.26And there is the quick hold as Federer hits another unforced error from close range. 2-2 in the second set. This match is just so finely balanced.

15.25Again it's nice solid serving from Murray as he moves 30-15 ahead. A nice quick hold will do him the world of good here.

15.23Latest score: Murray 6-4 1-2 Federer

15.22However, Federer closes the door to take a 2-1 lead in the second set. Can the Swiss secure a break early in this one?

15.22Federer continues to look strong on his serve as he moves 40-15 ahead. However, a double fault gives Murray a way back in at 30-40.

15.20And there's the hold for Murray as he levels it at 1-1 in the second set. Federer has had chances - but he has not taken them.

15.19Third deuce of the match as the pair exchange points once more. Can Federer win one of these mini-battles?

15.17It's as good as it gets from Federer as he resists the Murray pressure on his backhand. It's another deuce marathon on the Murray serve.

15.15... but he cannot take it as Murray wins the important exchange. Deuce.

15.15However, the Scot then fires long to hand Federer break point...

15.13And it's Murray who moves to the net to whip a forehand past his Swiss opponent. 30-30.

15.13However, another powerful serve from Murray cuts the score to 15-30. What a big point this next one is.

15.13What do we have here? Wobble from Murray as Federer moves 0-30 ahead.

15.11And he does not hang around as the Swiss holds to move to move 0-1 ahead in the second set.

15.09Federer to serve first in the second set.

15.08Four aces for Murray in that opening set to Federer's two. Meanwhile, the Swiss has hit 16 unforced errors thus far to the Scot's five.

15.08We will have some more of that please! It's massive that Murray has taken that opener. He has some breathing space now.

15.07...SET! Murray 6-4 Federer Murray secures the opening set 6-4 after breaking the Federer serve twice. What an opening set of tennis.

15.06However, two fine serves from Murray hands the Scot two set points...

15.04Murray thought he had moves 30-0 ahead after a Federer forehand was called long. However, hawk-eye told a very different story and the point was replayed - allowing Federer to level at 15-15.

15.04And he makes the perfect start as he comes to the net to volley it past the six-time champion.

15.02This set is far from over - but what a chance Murray has here to move ahead.

15.02... BREAK! Murray secures the break to take a 5-4 lead in the opening set. The Scot will now serve for a one-set lead.

15.00Brilliant from Murray as he comes to the net to move 15-30 ahead. Meanwhile, Federer fires long to hand the Scot two break points...

14.58There's the hold! Federer can only fire straight into the net. We sit level at 4-4 in the opening set.

14.56Oh just wonderful from Federer as he whips an incredible forehand down the line to move level again at 40-40. This game has gone on for 11 minutes.

14.56Another break point goes begging for Federer as he fires a lob just past the line.

14.54... however, the Scot saves it to bring us level at, yep you guessed it, deuce.

14.52Long from Murray! Break point Federer...

14.52The pair exchange points once more as we sit level at 40-40. Neither player seems to want this game.

14.50A backhand from Federer goes wayward. However, the Swiss moves level at deuce as Murray hits the net from close range.

14.48Just another sighter for Federer as he moves 0-30 ahead with a brilliant forehand...

14.48... however, two strong points from Murray moves him back level at 30-30.

14.46What have we made of it thus far then as we sit at 3-4 Federer in the opening set. Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson has just been spotted yawning in the crowd. Not like watching United ay!

14.44Quick-fire hold of serve for Federer as he moves 4-3 ahead. The Swiss has recovered from that early wobble and now looks the stronger player.

14.42And indeed he does to level it at 3-3 in the opening set.

14.42And then deuce. Really big moment in this opening set. Murray must hold here.

14.40Murray continues to serve well as he moves 40-15 ahead. However, a wonderful whipped backhand from Federer moves him 30-40 behind on his weaker side.

14.38Perfect start for Murray as he hits yet another ace. His serve has been brilliant in the Championships this year.

14.36And there's the hold for Federer as Murray is unable to return the serve. 2-3 Federer.

14.36However, Murray levels it at deuce with a powerful forehand into the corner. What a wonderful opening.

14.34Strange backhand from Federer as he whips it well wide. However, he moves advantage ahead with a volley at the net.

14.32However, Federer says no as he secures two quick points to level it at 30-30.

14.32But what do we have here? Federer fires another overhead smash wide. 0-30. Can Murray break back?

14.30... BREAK! Federer gets this one back on serve at 2-2 as Murray finds the net.

14.30Break point Federer as he finds the line with a backhand...

14.29Wonderful exchange between the pair as Murray approaches the net. However, his volley is just wide. Really has been a wonderful opening to this match.

14.27And now Murray fires long. Just a sighter for Federer as we sit at 40-40 on the Scot's serve.

14.26Just as I say that - he slices a forehand out of play. Commentator's curse. Sorry Andy.

14.26It's another fine serve from Murray as he moves 40-15 ahead. He just hasn't missed a shot thus far.

14.24Just a few signs that Federer could be finding his form as he attacks the Murray backhand to move 0-15 ahead. However, an ace from the Scot levels it at 15-15.

14.22However, Federer gets himself on the board as Murray fires into the net from close range. 2-1 Murray in the opening set.

14.21We sit level at deuce on the Federer serve as the latter can only hit the net following a Murray return.

14.20What a start from Murray! What has he had for breakfast? Oh we already know that - porridge. This one has begun so fast. 15-15.

14.18And it is Murray who moves 40-30 ahead as Federer fires long. Meanwhile, the Swiss follows suit once more to hand Murray a 2-0 lead.

14.16It's another fine forehand from Murray as he moves level at 30-30. This next point is a big one.

14.14Again Federer fires wide with his forehand to move Murray 15-0 ahead. The Swiss has not found his range thus far.

14.13What a start from Murray. Can he hold serve here to take control of the opening set? Early chance for the Scot.

14.12BREAK! It's a nervous start from Federer as he hits the net before firing long. Murray moves 1-0 ahead.

14.10Fantastic start from Murray as he releases a powerful forehand to move 0-15 ahead. However, he fires a Federer serve wide as we sit level at 15-15.

14.10Here we go then... Federer to serve first in the final.

14.08Enric Molina from Spain is today's umpire. He will have to control such an excitable crowd. I do not envy him.

14.08Remember, this is the duo's first meeting on grass. Not a bad way to start I suppose!

14.06Murray Mount/Henman Hill is well and truly rocking at Wimbledon. Can you imagine what will happen if Murray does actually do it?

14.05Here's a word from Boris Becker: "This is the worst bit, just a few minutes to go. You have to control your emotions without losing focus. These boys are really on their toes right now. It's the moment they've been waiting for and in a few minutes they will have to refocus and concentrate on their game plan," he told the BBC.

14.03Today is about making history for both players. There is just so much at stake.

14.02We will have about a five minute warm-up before the match gets underway. I'm going for Federer in four sets.

14.00What a welcome for both players as they emerge onto Centre Court. They both look quite relaxed on the outside. But I should imagine that is not the case on the inside!

13.58Here come the players as they make their way through the building and onto Centre. That is one long walk!

13.58Meanwhile, here's a word from McEnroe on the BBC: "First of all, we've been kidding about the weather and justifiably so because it's crazy, but there's comfort in knowing that it could be played indoors. Murray needs to be aggressive and he's doing a much better job with that. I'm picking Roger in four but if it went to a fifth set I would switch my allegiances to Murray."

13.56The two players will soon join us on Centre Court. What a few hours we have ahead of us. I cannot wait!

13.56Meanwhile, here's a word from Murray's former coach Mark Petchey on the BBC: "Having [coach] Ivan Lendl with him is huge. Having somebody who was there, trying to win their first title, also two sets to love down when they won their first title as well. I think will be a huge benefit for Andy, if things don't go well at the start of the match as well. So, today and yesterday is all about trying to keep your routine. I know it's always a bit of a cliche. But that's exactly what it is. It's about not trying to change anything, not making it bigger than it is. And I think that's why Andy, after the semi-final, was very quick to put the lid on any emotion out there and just acted the way that he is. And that's the one thing I love about Andy. He's consistent."

13.56Meanwhile, British professional boxer David Haye has tweeted: "Me and Andy are good friends and I am so proud of him for reaching the final. I hope that he can deliver a hayemaker of his own to KO Fed."

13.54Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand also tweeted: "I hope he enjoys it and makes it a day to remember. I'll be there. I can't wait. Good luck fella."

13.54Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp has also had his say: "He has done brilliantly to get this far. It's been long overdue to have a Brit in the final. The whole nation will be behind him. In these hard times it will give all of Britain a huge lift."

13.52Meanwhile, Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton tweeted: "Andy has done a great job and we've got to give him support whatever the case."

13.52If Murray is looking for words of encouragement today, then he has plenty of sources to look to with a host of sporting names lending their support. Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told reporters: "I join the whole country to wish Andy all the best."

13.50However, Murray has spent 16 hours 45 minutes on court at this year's Wimbledon, compared to just 12 hours nine minutes for Federer.

13.50Murray's second serve win rate is stronger at 65% to 61% - while the Scot's fastest first serve has been 135mph to Federer's 128mph.

13.48In terms of this year's stats. Murray has hit an average of 12.3 aces per game to Federer's 9.83. Meanwhile, Murray's first serve rate stands at 77% to Federer's 79%.

13.48Let's take a look at some stats ahead of the encounter. Both players are similar in size and stature - with Murray standing just two inches taller than Federer at 6ft 3. Meanwhile, Federer weighs one kilogram heavier at 85.

13.46Meanwhile, a host of former tennis stars including Tim Henman, Boris Becker, John McEnroe and Greg Rusedski have backed Murray this afteroon. Who is your money on?

13.46Update: The roof has been taken off Centre Court. The sun is shining through. Brilliant for a game of tennis!

13.46The charismatic Jo-Wilfried Tsonga waited in the semi-finals. However, Murray booked his spot in the final two with a three-sets-to-one win over the under-par Frenchman.

13.44Meanwhile, Murray advanced to round three with victories over Nikolay Davydenko and Ivo Karlovic - before seeing off the Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis. Round four saw the Scot beat Marin Cilic in three sets. Meanwhile, he recovered from a set down to beat David Ferrer in the quarter-finals.

13.44Then came the figure of world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals. However, Federer seemed unfazed as he recorded an extremely impressive three-sets-to-one victory.

13.42Let's take a look at how both players made it through to this afternoon's final. Federer began his competition with victories over Albert Ramos and Fabio Fognini. Meanwhile, he recovered from two sets down to beat Julien Benneteau in round three. He also dropped a set against Xavier Malisse - but saw off Mikhail Youzhny in comfortable fashion in the quarter-finals.

13.40It would probably be fair to state that Federer's form dipped somewhat in 2011, but he has returned in 2012 with a bang. He has won 39 and lost just six this year. Meanwhile, Murray has won 26 and lost nine of his encounters.

13.38One thing is for certain - both players are in search of their own piece of history this afternoon.

13.38For all Federer's brilliance at Wimbledon - he has not won the title here since 2009. However, if he triumphs this afternoon, he will become the first man aged 30 or older to win Wimbledon since Arthur Ashe in 1975.

13.36For those who think history will play a part - the last home winner of a Wimbledon singles title was Virginia Wade in 1977, the year of the Queen's Silver Jubilee. So the record must be broken in the year of her Diamond Jubilee right?!

13.34Celeb watch: David Beckham has just arrived at Wimbledon. What a hero.

13.34Meanwhile, Federer has won 65 games and lost just seven in his last 14 visits to Wimbledon - and he takes part in his eighth All England Club final this afternoon. Federer's prize money - not including sponsorships - also dwarfs Murray 46m to 13m.

13.32For all the brilliance of Federer, arguably the greatest player of all time, Murray does hold a head-to-head record of eight wins to seven against the Swiss. However, all of those matches took place on hard courts.

13.32Murray has appeared in three Grand Slam finals during his short career. He twice lost to Federer in the 2008 US Open and the 2010 Australian Open - while the other defeat came in Melbourne last year against Novak Djokovic. The stats do not read favourably for the Scot - he has failed to win a singular set in a major final.

13.30Afternoon all! Oh how times have changed since Bunny Austin's final appearance in the 1938 final. The Brit was given a five-pound voucher for Silversmiths - while the runner-up today will receive a cool 575,000. Not too bad for a couple of weeks work I suppose.
