Adrian Mannarino sees off Fabio Fognini

Adrian Mannarino beats Fabio Fognini 6-3 6-4 6-1 in the second round of the US Open.

Adrian Mannarino has made it through to the third round of the US Open following a straight-sets win over Fabio Fognini.

The Frenchman broke his opponent early on, but Fognini fought back to level the scores at 2-2.

However, the Italian lost his next service game, before going on to lose the set 6-3.

In the second set, Mannarino was in control after breaking his opponents' third service game to take a 4-2 lead, but he allowed the 15th seed to get back into the game when he lost his serve at 5-3.

Fognini could not take advantage though, as he lost his serve and went down 6-3 in the set.

In the first game of the third set Mannarino lost his serve, but he quickly recovered and broke Fognini three times on the way to a comfortable 6-1 win.

Mannarino will now face Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round of the tournament.
