Richard Gasquet came from a set down to defeat Albert Montanes 4-6 6-2 6-3 6-3 and reach the third round of the US Open.
The Spaniard got off to a decent start, clinching the first set with some composed tennis, but his French opponent soon steadied the ship and began to dominate.
Gasquet looked back to his best from the second set onward as Montanes struggled to hold his serve and maintain the form he showed in the opener.
After taking the second 6-2, Gasquet claimed both of the remaining sets sets 6-3 with some powerful ground strokes and unstoppable serves to cruise to victory.
Gasquet will face either Jurgen Melzer or Bradley Klahn in round three.
