Rain showers result in Maria Sharapova's US Open quarter-final against Marion Bartoli being postponed until tomorrow.

The US Open quarter-final between Maria Sharapova and Marion Bartoli has been postponed until tomorrow.

Very little play had been possible due to rain showers in New York, which saw the players taken off court twice.

Only four games of the opening set were possible, all of which were won by Bartoli.

Organisers have decided to reschedule the remainder of the match for tomorrow.

All other matches this evening are still pencilled in to go ahead.
