World number 71 Vasek Pospisil pulls off a major upset by beating Tomas Berdych 7-5 2-6 7-6[5] in Montreal.

World number 71 Vasek Pospisil has pulled off a major upset by defeating Tomas Berdych 7-5 2-6 7-6[5] in Montreal.

Both players looked comfortable on their own serve until the ninth game when Pospisil forced two break points. He couldn't take advantage of either, however, and Berdych fought back to move into a 5-4 lead.

Pospisil did manage to find the all-important break in Berdych's next service game, taking a 6-5 lead before successfully holding his own serve to claim the opening set.

Berdych responded in the second, breaking the Canadian in the sixth and eighth games to take the set 6-2 in just over half an hour.

Each player recorded one break apiece in the deciding set to force a tie-break, which Pospisil won 7-5 to clinch a famous victory.
