Petra Kvitova books her place in the third round of the Rogers Cup with victory over Eugenie Bouchard.

Petra Kvitova has won her way through to the third round of the Rogers Cup by defeating home favourite Eugenie Bouchard in straight sets.

The 23-year-old Czech broke serve three times on her way to taking the first set, and things did not get much better for the Canadian in the second - although it was arguably more of a contest.

Bouchard created four break points on Kvitova's serve, but all four times she was denied. In return, Kvitova also set up four chances to break, taking two of them for a 6-2 triumph.

She will face the winner of the match between Carla Suarez-Navarro and Samantha Stosur in the next round in Toronto.
