Fabio Fognini wins his maiden ATP singles title with a victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber in the final of the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart.

Fabio Fognini has won the first ATP singles title of his career with a victory over Philipp Kohlschreiber in the final of the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart.

The Italian world number 31 lost the opening set 5-7 before levelling the match 6-4 in the second.

He then came through 6-4 in the decider to clinch his maiden tour triumph.

Fognini was recently beaten in the first round of Wimbledon by Jurgen Melzer.
