Kyle Edmund bows out in Irving Challenger semi-finals

British number three Kyle Edmund loses to Aljaz Bedene in the semi-finals of the Irving Challenger.

Kyle Edmund's impressive run at the Irving Challenger has come to an end after he lost out to Aljaz Bedene in the semi-finals.

After rain had washed out play on Friday, the remaining eight players knew that they would have to win two matches on Saturday to reach the final.

The day started perfectly for the British number three, who fought back from a break deficit to Steve Darcis to beat the Belgian 7-6 6-2 and progress through to the last four.

However, the 20-year-old could not make it back-to-back wins as he suffered a 7-6 6-1 defeat to world number 115 Bedene.

Despite the setback, Edmund should return to a position in the world rankings close to his career best of 144th place.
