Milos Raonic targets Grand Slam breakthrough this season

World number six Milos Raonic insists that he can make a Grand Slam breakthrough this season, despite missing the French Open through injury.

Canadian Milos Raonic has said that he still has hopes of making a Grand Slam breakthrough this season.

The world number six has been ruled out of the French Open with a foot injury, but hopes to be back in time for Wimbledon next month.

He told USA Today: "The concentration at the beginning of the year was to make a true breakthrough at a Grand Slam. I'm missing this one, but that's still my goal. It helps me get a few weeks of preparation.

"Some people would say I'm paranoid when it comes to my training and preparation, but I don't like to go about things blindly. I want to improve. It's not just about maintaining. The big goal is to make progress moving forward. I want to move up."

Raonic lost to Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open in January.
