Gael Monfils is to miss the rest of the season after an injury-plagued 2012, according to his coach.

Gael Monfils will not play again this season, according to the Frenchman's coach.

The world number 47 has missed three of the four Grand Slams this year with a knee problem and recently sat out the Asian leg of the ATP Tour.

"He doesn't have a problem with his knee but we decided there was no point in playing the rest of the year. We have already turned our attention to 2013," said Patrick Chamagne.

Monfils lost to world number 436 Patrik Rosenholm in Stockholm this week.
