Tim Henman believes that Ernests Gulbis was wrong to label Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray "boring".

Tim Henman has criticised Ernests Gulbis for claiming that the top four in the world rankings are "boring".

Gulbis accused Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal of copying a trait that Roger Federer supposedly started of being dull and diplomatic during interviews.

However, Henman believes that those four are great ambassadors for the sport and that Gulbis made a mistake by criticising them.

"I don't agree with it at all," said Henman. "Those four guys have done a great job for the game that people like Gulbis will benefit from, he should focus on improving his own game.

"They are incredibly dedicated and motivated by their profession and are fantastic ambassadors for their sport, so for him to come out and criticise them probably wasn't the best thing to do. If Federer and Nadal suddenly went into press conferences slagging off other players you would question what was going on because that is not them as people or players.

"I think that the integrity and tradition of our sport is very important and the four guys being mentioned are brilliant and we should cherish them while we have got them in the game."

Gulbis was eliminated in the second round of this year's French Open at the hands of Gael Monfils.
