Andy Murray has insisted that he is approaching tomorrow's second-round French Open match against Jarkko Nieminen with caution.

The British number one is the clear favourite to progress, having beaten his Finnish opponent on three occasions, but Murray is wary of a potential upset.

He told BBC Sport: "There are normally a lot of long rallies with him, he's solid from the back of the court and has a huge serve.

"He's a very good returner and gets a lot of balls back. He's got a lot of experience and has won some good matches here in the past."

The Scot has defeated Nieminen on both hard court and grass in the past, and is relishing the opportunity to take him on on clay.

"The surface obviously changes things," he said. "He'll do certain things better and certain things not so good.

"I've practised with him on clay before, and I've always normally enjoyed playing against left handers."

Murray progressed to the second round of the French Open with a victory over Japan's Tatsuma Ito.
