Maria Sharapova, Novak Djokovic and Venus Williams justified their tag as pre-tournament favourites with dominant displays on day one of the Australian Open.
Williams took less than an hour to dispose of Galina Voskoboeva, while Sharapova was in ruthless form to claim a clean sweep, or 'double bagel', against Olga Puchkova.
Djokovic also wasted no time in making the second round, as the defending men's champion recorded a straight-sets victory over Paul-Henri Mathieu.
