Samantha Stosur describes Australia's opening day in the Olympic tennis as a 'disaster' as they lose all three of their opening matches.

Samantha Stosur has described the opening day of the Olympic tennis as a 'disaster' for Australia following three defeats in three matches at Wimbledon.

The fifth seed was beaten by Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro in the first round of the women's singles before she was knocked out of the women's doubles with partner Casey Dellacqua.

There was further bad news for the team as Jarmila Gajdosova and Anastasia Rodionova also exited the doubles in the opening round.

"Zero from three is a bit of a disaster isn't it?. Not a very good day," Stosur told reporters.

Stosur suffered a second-round exit at the hands of the Netherlands's Arantxa Rus last month at the All England Club.
