France swimmer Nicolas D'Oriano scoops second gold with 800m freestyle win

Nicolas D'Oriano wins 800m freestyle gold for France at the European Games with a competition record.

Nicolas D'Oriano of France has picked up his second gold medal of the European Games by winning this evening's 800m freestyle at the Aquatics Centre in Baku.

D'Oriano posted a Games record time of 7:59.87 to edge out Spaniard Marcos Mesa Rodriguez, who took silver with 8:01.73.

Henning Muehlleitner of Germany scooped bronze after finishing on 8:04.33, marginally quicker than Hungarian Kristof Rasovszky.

It was the Frenchman's second gold in Baku thus far, having previously won the 1500m freestyle earlier in the week.
