Judd Trump becomes world number one

Judd Trump becomes the world number one after beating Peter Ebdon 9-1 in the International Championship semi-final.

Judd Trump has risen to the top of the snooker world rankings for the first time in his career.

Trump reached the summit of the game courtesy of a 9-1 thrashing of Peter Ebdon in the International Championship semi-final in Chengdu.

He will now face either Neil Robertson or Shaun Murphy in the final as the best player in the world, knowing that a £125,000 prize fund greets the winner.

The 23-year-old Bristolian, who has beaten the likes of Mark Allen on the way to the final, takes over from Mark Selby as the world number one.
