Welsh prop Adam Jones is likely to miss his country's third-place playoff against Australia on Friday with a calf injury.

Prop Adam Jones is likely to miss Wales's Rugby World Cup third-place playoff against Australia on Friday through injury.

The Osprey was taken off during his country's semi-final defeat to France on Saturday with a calf problem.

"He did look like he'd torn his calf - he won't be playing Friday, I would be very surprised if he plays Friday," said assistant coach Shaun Edwards.

"I think Gats (Wales coach Warren Gatland) would want to play [Craig] Mitchell anyway - he's a great kid."

The news comes after Wales captain Sam Warburton was given a three-week ban for his red card against the French.
