Wales move George North to centre for Australia clash

Wales coach Warren Gatland moves winger George North to centre for Saturday's opening Autumn International against Australia

Wales head coach Warren Gatland has moved George North to centre for Saturday's clash with Australia at the Millennium Stadium.

Wales have lost both Jonathan Davies and Scott Williams to injury, prompting Gatland to name North in the middle alongside Jamie Roberts for the first Autumn International of the year.

North normally plays on the wing but has featured in the centre on several occasion for Wales and his club side, Northampton.

Rhys Webb will start as scrum-half ahead of Mike Phillips, while Liam Williams completes a back three with the returning Leigh Halfpenny at full-back and fellow winger Alex Cuthbert.

Wales will also play Fiji, New Zealand and South Africa this month.
