Wales scrum-half Gareth Davies out for 12 weeks

Wales scrum-half Gareth Davies is ruled out of action for 12 weeks with a serious knee injury.

Wales scrum-half Gareth Davies has been sidelined for 12 weeks with a serious knee injury.

The 24-year-old is due to miss his country's upcoming matches against Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and South Africa after damaging his posterior cruciate ligament.

Davies will also sit out four rounds of the new European Rugby Champions Cup for club Scarlets.

"Gareth is a strong player for us and last season he was the league's top try scorer, but we have to focus on the guys who are available and make sure we put our best foot forward," Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac told Wales Online.

Wales get their autumn schedule underway on November 8 when they welcome Australia to Cardiff.
