South Africa have won the third leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series as they beat New Zealand 26-17 in the final of the Port Elizabeth-based tournament.

The victory has seen the country move into the top spot in the overall standings, after Fiji dropped down into second place following their 21-14 loss in the Plate Final to the USA Eagles.

Elsewhere, the Bowl Final was won by the Canadians, who put together a strong showing to turn over Kenya with a 24-5 win, which sought to build on an encouraging victory over the same side in Dubai.

A shock result was also experienced in the Shield Final leg, where Portugal won out 19-14 over Samoa.
