Lee Jones 'frustrated' by Scotland defeat

Scotland's Lee Jones admits that it was "frustrating" for his side to fall just short of an upset against New Zealand in the Commonwealth Games rugby sevens.

Scotland sevens back Lee Jones has admitted that it was "frustrating" for his side to lose out to New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games today.

The host nation launched a rousing fightback in the second half of their match against the defending champions at Ibrox, scoring 14 unanswered points to eventually lose by just three.

Jones, who scored both of his side's tries, acknowledged that it was an achievement to have pushed the dominant All Blacks so close, but believes that things could have been even better had they not conceded 17 "soft" points in the first half.

"Overall it's obviously a close score, but we let them get 17 points ahead in the first half, and it was pretty soft," Jones told Sports Mole.

"We managed to pull it back and we could have put it away at the end, but we're left thinking what could have been if it wasn't for those 17 points to begin with, so it is frustrating."

Scotland still have Barbados and Canada to face in the evening session as they look to join New Zealand in the top two of Group A.
