Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond hails his side's fighting spirit following Friday's Aviva Premiership victory over Exeter Chiefs.

Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond has praised his side's battling spirit following Friday's Aviva Premiership win over Exeter Chiefs.

The league's bottom-placed team fought back from 5-16 down at Edgeley Park to earn their third victory of the season with a 21-16 triumph.

"The lads showed true spirit again, but it was always going to be a really tense game," Diamond told Sky Sports News.

"There's a lot of hard work to do, but we can't bother about other results."

Friday's win has moved the Sharks to within one point of safety.
