Leeds Carnegie confirm they will be called Yorkshire Carnegie next season.

Leeds Carnegie have announced they will be renamed Yorkshire Carnegie from next season as they attempt to boost the club's appeal.

The name proposal was made earlier in the year before the club missed out on promotion to the Premiership last season.

Sir Ian McGeechan told Sky Sports News: "It was very disappointing that we came so close and didn't quite achieve it. We have a strong squad and more experience than we had, which I think is key.

"We have some natural leaders who have already taken responsibility for doing things."

Sir Ian McGeechan recently denied any interest in the vacant coaching position at the club.
