Dai Young slams referee after London Wasps defeat

London Wasps director of rugby Dai Young hits out at the referee following his side's 20-8 defeat at Newport Gwent Dragons in the LV= Cup.

London Wasps director of rugby Dai Young has blasted the referee after his side's defeat at Newport Gwent Dragons in the LV= Cup.

Wasps saw themselves knocked out of the competition at Rodney Parade as they went down 20-8 to their Welsh opponents.

Despite having no reservations about the outcome, Young believes that the officiating made for a poor game.

"First and foremost, I thought the Dragons deserved the victory, because they were the more committed and determined team," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"Our task, although we didn't help ourselves, was made impossible because the game was not refereed at all and probably one disappointment for me is that it took 50 minutes for my players to kick off because of it.

"I don't think he refereed the breakdown, people were being taken off the ball and were in front of the ball. It was just constantly non-refereed."

Wasps return to Aviva Premiership action next Sunday when they welcome Bath to Adams Park.
