Cardiff Blues beat London Irish 10-6 in the LV= Cup.

Cardiff Blues recorded a narrow win over London Irish in a low-scoring encounter in the LV= Cup this evening.

Cardiff were the more attacking of the two sides in the opening 20 minutes, Marland Yarde just preventing the home side from taking an early lead.

Guy Armitage gave the Exiles a lead with a penalty, but the Blues' positive start paid off in the 34th minute when Gavin Evans crossed the try line.

The visitors got the gap down to a single point after the break with another penalty, but a late kick from Rhys Patchell restored the hosts' advantage late in the match.

Irish pushed hard in the final minutes, but were unable to get the breakthrough, recording their second loss of the tournament.

London Irish remain top of Pool Three, while Cardiff Blues climb off the bottom of Pool Two.
