Leicester Tigers lock Louis Deacon calls time on career

Leicester Tigers lock Louis Deacon calls time on his playing career.

Leicester Tigers lock Louis Deacon has announced his retirement from professional rugby.

The 34-year-old won 29 caps for England and was part of the squad for the 2011 World Cup.

Deacon, who made his Leicester debut in 2000, has failed to make an appearance this season due to injury.

He leaves the Tigers having helped the club to win six league titles and two Heineken Cups.

"I have said many times that all I ever wanted to do was play one game for the Leicester Tigers," Deacon told the club's official website. "So to have the opportunity to do that more than 270 times, in massive games all over Europe and alongside so many great players, has been a huge honour."

Leicester continue their Aviva Premiership campaign on Sunday when they make the trip to London Irish.
