Leicester Tigers hold on for win against Benetton Treviso

Benetton Treviso run out of time to complete their second-half comeback against Leicester Tigers.

Leicester stormed to a 19-0 lead, with tries from Manu Tuilagi, Julian Salvi and a penalty try in the opening 30 minutes.

The Italians got on the scoreboard though a Dean Budd try, but Tigers' dominance continued as Salvi ran in his second to give the home side a 26-7 lead at the break.

Treviso came out brightly in the second half as they looked to get back into the game.

Their efforts were rewarded when Lorenzo Cittadini added their second try of the game five minutes into the second period.

However, the visitors were reduced to 14 men when Simone Favaro was sent to the sin bin.

Matt Smith took advantage to run in Leicester's fifth try of the game, opening up a 17-point lead.

Once back to full strength, Christian Loamanu reduced Leicester's lead, and an Alberto di Bernardo penalty three minutes later meant the result was far from certain with 12 minutes still on the clock.

The Tigers regrouped, and were able to hold off the late challenges from Treviso to take the 33-25 win to move them back into second in pool 2 behind Toulon, while Treviso are still without a win in the Heineken Cup this season.
