Ireland's Tommy O'Donnell to miss World Cup with hip injury

Irish Rugby confirms that flanker Tommy O'Donnell will miss Ireland's World Cup campaign due to a hip injury.

Irish Rugby has confirmed that Ireland flanker Tommy O'Donnell will miss the World Cup in England due to a hip injury.

The 28-year-old suffered the problem during his nation's 35-21 victory over Wales at the Millennium Stadium during a warm-up match at the weekend.

O'Donnell underwent tests at the University Hospital Wales on Sunday afternoon, and the IRFU has revealed that a hip dislocation will keep the flanker out of action for at least six weeks.

The tournament will get underway on September 18.
