Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea not giving up on playoffs

Conor O'Shea insists that he is not giving up on reaching the Aviva Premiership playoffs following Harlequins' defeat to Northampton Saints.

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea has insisted that he is not giving up on the playoffs following his side's defeat to Northampton Saints.

Quins, who were beaten 17-13 at Franklin's Gardens last night, are nine points adrift of the top four in the Aviva Premiership table.

Despite having lost nine of their 16 games in the league this season, O'Shea is hopeful that his players can enjoy a late surge up the standings.

"We will play every game and we will see where it takes us," he told BBC Sport. "We will keep fighting until mathematically we are out of the playoffs.

"We will benefit from this period a lot more than people imagine. We will come out of it a much better side. We just need the little things to go our way."

Quins continue their campaign next Saturday when they entertain London Irish in the league.
