Conor O'Shea expects Adam Jones impact at Harlequins

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea suggests that prop Adam Jones will be a key figure in his squad next season.

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea has insisted that Adam Jones will not be a bit-part player in his squad next season.

The former Wales prop, 34, will move to Twickenham Stoop on a one-year deal from Cardiff Blues in the summer.

O'Shea is looking forward to 'milking' Jones's experience, but he has warned his players to expect plenty of competition from the veteran forward.

"I've said to the youngsters, milk this guy for everything he's got, but he's not here to make up numbers," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "I think the great thing from our point of view [is] the complementary nature of what Adam can do."

O'Shea has also suggested that Jones could stay beyond the end of his 12-month deal.

When asked if there was a chance of handing the player a contract extension, the Irishman added: "One hundred percent. I'm not ageist. Whether you're young or old doesn't matter."

Jones, who has won 95 caps for Wales, has been part of two British and Irish Lions tours.
