Eddie Jones highlights importance of England front row

Eddie Jones admits that getting the front row right is one of his top priorities after naming a forward-heavy first England squad for the Six Nations.

England head coach Eddie Jones has admitted that getting the front row right at the Six Nations is one of his top priorities after naming his first squad since taking charge.

Jones's initial 33-man Elite Player Squad has three players for each of the front-row positions and that leaves them a little light elsewhere, including only two players - Danny Care and Ben Youngs - at scrum-half.

"We really wanted to make sure the front row is right so we have picked three players in each of those positions," Jones told reporters after the squad announcement at Twickenham. "That means we are lighter in other areas."

Jones also said that nothing "radical" would change and that winning was all that mattered in the upcoming Six Nations.

"It's all about winning," he added. "We have got to win. No-one plays lovely rugby and finishes third. Don't kid yourself.

"All we want to do is beat Scotland. Then we play Italy, Ireland, Wales and France. We have to worry about each game, we can't get too far ahead of ourselves.

"We have got seven training sessions now. There is not going to be some new radical rugby. We have to build slowly and surely to make sure we keep improving."

England begin their campaign away to Scotland at Murrayfield on February 6.
